Can You Smoke Cannabis on the Las Vegas Strip?

What the law says

Nevada Revised Statutes 678D.300 prohibits consuming cannabis in any “public place.” Las Vegas Boulevard (the Strip) and its sidewalks are public spaces. This prohibition applies to all forms of cannabis consumption — smoking, vaping, edibles, and any other method consumed in public.

Even though Nevada has legal adult-use cannabis, the public consumption ban means tourists cannot simply consume openly along the Strip the way they might drink an alcoholic beverage in a cup while walking.

What about casino floors?

Casino floors are generally not licensed for cannabis consumption. Despite being privately operated, casino common areas are open to the public and are not appropriate locations for cannabis consumption under Nevada law. Standard Strip casinos do not permit cannabis on their gaming floors.

Legal alternatives near the Strip

Nevada licenses cannabis consumption lounges — dedicated facilities where you can legally purchase and consume cannabis on-site. These are the best legal option for Strip visitors.

Several licensed consumption lounges operate in Las Vegas, some within a few miles of the Strip.

Hotel rooms

Hotel rooms are private property. However, most Strip hotels explicitly prohibit cannabis consumption on their property — even in rooms. Violating this policy can result in fees or removal. Check your hotel’s policy before assuming your room is a legal consumption option.

The practical reality

Las Vegas is a cannabis-legal city with a strong cannabis culture, but the lack of obvious on-Strip consumption options is one of the genuine friction points for visitors. The licensed consumption lounge model is the intended solution — visiting a licensed lounge before heading to the Strip is the cleanest legal path for tourists.
