Where Can You Consume Cannabis in Las Vegas?
Buying cannabis in Las Vegas is straightforward. Consuming it legally requires more care. Here’s what you need to know.

Public consumption is prohibited
Nevada law (NRS 678D.310(3)) prohibits public consumption, with a licensed-lounge exception in subsection 10. NRS 678D.300 also restricts the adult-use exemption for use in public or exposed to public view. Prohibited locations include:
- The Las Vegas Strip and sidewalks
- Parks and public spaces
- Casino floors
- Hotel lobbies, pools, and common areas
- Ordinary restaurants and bars
- Inside a vehicle, whether moving or parked
A violation of NRS 678D.310(3) is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $600.
Licensed consumption lounges
Nevada licenses cannabis consumption lounges — dedicated facilities where adults 21+ can legally purchase and consume cannabis on-site. These are the primary legal option for visitors who do not have access to a private space.
A Nevada retail consumption lounge is attached or immediately adjacent to a dispensary; independent lounges are a separate category. Under NRS 678D.470 and 678D.475, only products purchased from the lounge may be consumed there. A dispensary purchase is not permission to bring your own cannabis into a lounge. Tribal venues operate under a separate regulatory framework.

Hotel rooms and vacation rentals
A private hotel room or a tobacco-smoking room is not automatically a lawful cannabis-consumption location. Property permission does not override applicable cannabis laws, and hotels may impose their own restrictions. Do not treat a hotel policy as legal authorization to consume.
Private residences may permit adult-use consumption where it is lawful, not public or exposed to public view, and the owner allows it. A rental advertised as cannabis-friendly does not by itself establish that consumption there is lawful.
Permission to smoke tobacco does not authorize cannabis use. Nevada adult-use permission also does not extend to federal property; Lake Mead National Recreation Area prohibits marijuana use.
Casino floors
Casino floors are open to the public, so private ownership does not permit cannabis consumption there. Gaming-property policies are separate from cannabis licensing. Nevada law also imposes separation requirements between cannabis establishments and major gaming establishments; do not assume a casino can simply add a lounge.
In a vehicle
Consuming cannabis in a vehicle — whether moving or parked — is prohibited by NRS 678D.310(3). This applies to drivers and passengers. Driving under the influence is a separate offense under NRS 484C.110.
