Where Can You Consume Cannabis in Las Vegas?

Public consumption is prohibited

Nevada law (NRS 678D.300) prohibits consuming cannabis in any public place. This includes:

• The Las Vegas Strip and sidewalks
• Parks and public spaces
• Casinos (unless specifically licensed)
• Hotel lobbies, pools, and common areas
• Restaurants and bars (unless the establishment is licensed as a consumption lounge)
• Inside a vehicle, whether moving or parked

Violating public consumption restrictions can result in a civil penalty.

Licensed consumption lounges

Nevada was among the first states to license cannabis consumption lounges — dedicated facilities where adults 21+ can legally purchase and consume cannabis on-site. These are the primary legal option for visitors who do not have access to a private space.

Consumption lounges in Las Vegas may be attached to or co-located with a dispensary. You typically purchase cannabis from the dispensary and then consume in the licensed lounge area.

Hotel rooms and vacation rentals

Hotel rooms are private property, not public spaces. However, many hotels — particularly on the Strip — have explicit policies prohibiting cannabis consumption on their premises. Violating a hotel’s cannabis policy can result in fines, removal, or other consequences.

Some vacation rentals explicitly permit cannabis. If you plan to consume in a rental property, check the property’s house rules before booking. Do not assume permission.

Smoking cannabis may also be restricted or prohibited under the same provisions as tobacco smoking, particularly indoors. Nevada has indoor smoking restrictions in many venues.

Casino floors

Casino floors are generally not licensed for cannabis consumption. Standard Las Vegas casinos are privately owned but open to the public — consumption on casino floors would violate public consumption restrictions and casino policy. Some Nevada gaming establishments may eventually integrate licensed cannabis amenities, but this requires separate licensing.

In a vehicle

Consuming cannabis in a vehicle — whether moving or parked — is prohibited by Nevada law. This applies to drivers and passengers. Open containers of cannabis in a vehicle are also restricted.
