Adult-use possession
Adults 21 and older may possess up to 3 ounces of cannabis and 24 grams of concentrated cannabis outside the home. Do not read a concentrate weight limit as milligrams of THC or as dosing advice. This overview covers adult use, not the separate medical program.

Where to buy
Use an OCM-licensed adult-use dispensary. Check the official verification list and the verification tool posted near the entrance. OCM’s consumer guidance explains accepted IDs, including valid passports from the United States or another country.

Consumption is location-specific
The shorthand that cannabis follows tobacco rules has exceptions. NYC prohibits smoking or vaping in parks and businesses, and cannabis cannot be smoked or vaped in a motor vehicle even when parked. Check the dedicated consumption guide before selecting a place.

Driving and leaving New York
Driving while impaired by cannabis is illegal. Legal purchase does not authorize crossing a state or international border with it. Keep shopping plans within your stay and arrange transportation that does not depend on driving after use.
